Originally, the shrine was a modest wooden structure built by early Chinese settlers who arrived on Koh Samui to work in coconut plantations and trade. Over time, the local community expanded and renovated the site into a larger and more elaborate temple. In 2016, a major reconstruction was completed, featuring a stunning 16-meter-tall statue of Guan Yu, which is now recognized as the largest Guan Yu statue in Thailand.

The temple complex beautifully showcases traditional Chinese architecture with intricate red and gold details, dragon motifs, and decorative lanterns. Visitors can also explore a small museum that tells the story of Guan Yu and the history of the Chinese community on Koh Samui.

The shrine is not only a place of worship but also a must-visit cultural attraction, offering visitors a peaceful atmosphere, breathtaking art, and insight into the island’s multicultural heritage.
